Internet domain

    Currently I have an internet domain hosted on STRATO. Shortly my contract with STRATO is expiring, and I am think on create a web with that domain in WordPress and move on it there. I would like to know two things:

    – How can I transfer the domain currently hosted on STRATO to WordPress?

    – Can WordPress provides me by their plans email accounts as I get on STRATO?

    I’m happy to help you sort this out. Before I can answer your question with accuracy I need to clarify if you plan to move your site to WordPress.com (here) or the self hosted version of WordPress?

    Thanks for your reply.

    What I plan to do is moving my domain name from strato where I got it some time ago to a new site in WordPress.com by using one of the offered plans. So I need to know how to do it (maybe a guide link where is explained).
    As I have email account on strato, I asked for the possibility of getting also on a wordpress plan. Or maybe I have to get email account with strato, and website with wordpress. If so, Is it possible? Even though I prefer to do it everything together…

    To import your site to WordPress.com you will follow these instructions.

    We aren’t able to receive a domain transfer at this time so you will need to map the domain to your account.

    Here is a side by side comparison of the WordPress.com Plans.
    At a minimum, you will need WordPress.com Personal so that you can map your custom domain.

    You can add the MX records for your Strato email to your domain. They should be able to give you those details. Other options include Google Apps or Zoho Mail.

    Let me know if you need further clarification on any of this information.

    I did steps as you recommend me:

    1. I added my domain by “add domain option”. I bought domain mapping.

    2. Then I asked my domain provider to redirect to wordpress:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    My provider said that the only way to conect my domain to wordpress is by doing via IP (in the A-record of strato).

    So, I need IP for my domain in wordpress now. Please, let me know how can I get IP for my domain in order to conect from Strato to WordPress?

    Hello –

    The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s name servers to the following values:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records, accordingly.

    If you still want to map your domain using A records, please be sure to create two records using these IP addresses:

    192.0.78.25

    192.0.78.24
