Internet Explorer
-
When my blogs are open in Internet Explorer, we are getting error messages shutting us down.
I get the following error: Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.I have no problem just using Firefox – there are no issues there. But readers of our blogs are complaining.
Please advise as to a solution. We have been having this problem for a few weeks – and had not had it in the past.
Thanks!

Apart from updating IE there is not a whole lot you can do.
If you have added code yourself, there could be something there.
Please provide link to your blog and we’ll have a look. -
There are two blogs we are primarily having problems with – augustafreepress.com and http://thenewdominion.wordpress.com.
-
um – you’ve got quite a few ads on those blogs. Are you aware that ads violate the TOS? You may want to contact support and see if they are OK.
-
Yes, the ads might be a problem.
The site works fine in firefox, opera and safari. Update your own explorer first of all. -
We are planning to move to independent hosting – working on that right now. We have had these Websites for some time – and never had this happen. The problem started when the Dashboard changed about six weeks ago … I don’t think it is my version of IE since I have had complaints from at least 10 people who read our blog on a regular basis. Any other ideas?

Your blog — and your ads — showed up just fine for me in IE7 without any lockups or a crash. When I do get the “encountered” message it is sometimes site-specific but it’s also sometimes caused by low memory or some conflict. I hope you and your friends have clicked on “yes” when given the option to send the error report to Microsoft.
I agree with Vivian about contacting support.

I think I solved this … time will tell. I found an that didn’t have a … perhaps the code problem would cause a crash. Anyway, I corrected this. The crash usually happened when I was scrolling through the front page – though I was told people were crashing immediately when they pulled the sites up.
