Internet Explorer 7 Support?

    Hi,

I am trying to roll out a company-wide blog within my organization, which is currently at IE7. Many of us use Firefox and Chrome, but our company only supports IE7. Those in our test groups who are using IE7 are having trouble posting comments, or even seeing anything below the comment field. Is there something that can be done about this?

    Thanks!

    Lorraine

    Hi lorraineprocaccini,

WordPress.com is not officially supporting IE 7 at this point. Like with a great many other sites out there, some of our functionality will continue to work on older browsers but you will run into things that will not.

I would strongly recommend that you speak to your IT staff and ask that they update your browser to something that is up to date and compatible with current web standards.

Thanks so much for responding. We are about a year away from upgrading to something more current. In the meantime, are there any fixes at all for this issue? Or would we be better off trying to find a new platform?

    Hi lorraineprocaccini,

I’m concerned that running by using such an old browser, you will have issues with many other websites. Many rely on advanced CSS (stylesheets), javascript and other technologies that are not supported in IE7. While you’re of course welcome to look around for other options, I’m not sure you’ll find one that has the features we offer and that will work on a browser that was released in 2006.
