Internet Explorer ad showing
-
Can anyone explain to me how it is that an ad for Inernet Explorer shows up at my PAYED weblog http://iplayguitaronline.com???
That’s not what I buy a weblog for, for having ads show up that I didn’t ask for and am not being payed for.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What upgrades did you pay for? If you just did the domain mapping and custom domain then WordPress.COM will still run ads on your site to pay for the hosting. If you want to have no ads on your site then you need the No Ads Upgrade. If you have the No Ads Upgrade and you still see ads then check your browser for viruses or some extra add ins.

I’ve got the Domain-, Custom Design and 10Gb upgrade. That costs me 76 dollars a year. I think it would be outrageous if ón top of that I’d still have to pay to have no ads showing. However, this is the first time it happened.

Outrageous or not the No Ads Upgrade is required to keep ads off your site. WordPress.COM has been running ads on blogs here since 2006 I believe, that is part of how they pay the rent. You do not see the ads when you are logged in. Still cheaper than most hosts and much easier.

WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

Well, I hardly ever see the ads even if I am not logged in most of the time, but it ticks me off very much just the same to have to allow ads even when I’m paying for a blog, and not very little money at that. This is not what I’m used to. I think I will consider to move to a wordpress.org blog very seriously.

Please make whatever choice makes you happy as we Volunteers have answered your questions accurately and we can do no more than that.

And then to have an ad for Internet Explorer at that; if there’s one thing I DON’T want to promote…

@Timethief: I know, my irritation is not directed at you, and thank you sincerely for your helpful replies.

You’re welcome. My answer above is a sincere one. We blog for pleasure and when the pleasure factor isn’t there we are free to move to where we can be happy. Moving blog content to WordPress.org is not a formidable undertaking, provided you have the skills to set up and maintain your own install. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/
