Interview type of blog?
-
Hi, bright people.
I have one rather interesting question; is it possible to form blog like interview, where visitors ask questions and I (author of the blog) answers – sort of reverse classic order, I write comments and visitors posts?
Sort of extended F.A.Q. page.
I hope you understand what I am asking, my English is in early beta stage.
Thanks. -
I don’t think so. One workaround you could try is to put a Contact page on your blog and encourage people to put the comments in there. Then you make posts and include their comments at the top of the post.

Why not just do what sulz does and have the author of the post answer the comments by editing them and placing her response in there?
-
Sorry, drmike, who or what is sulz? Can you explain me a little more? Hope you dont mind?
-
Sulz is one of the volenteers who helps out here like myself. I was hoping that she would speak up and explain a bit more. here’s a link to one of her offsite blogs that I hope shows how she’s handling it.
Sorry for the confusion :)
edit: “what is sulz” That’s what we would like to know. heh heh :)

This is exactly what I want to do with blog. You are the man, drmike. Sulz, care to help a little?
-
hi tomjantol. i read this thread but i didn’t realise that’s what you’re asking, hence the lack of participation. =P if you want comments the way i’ve done, all you have to do is edit the comment given, type your reply in it and bold your part. (that’s what you’re asking for, right?)
drmike: i’m anything and everything you’re not! =P

Sulz, thanks a lot. I will use this “by hand” way but also looking for some more automatic solution, invisible for visitor; solution where visitor (writer of question) have feeling of making interview with me (writer of answers).
For example:
Question by Sulz: Who are you, tomjantol?
Answer: I am Tom Jantol, animator from Croatia trying to …..Question by drmike: So, why I should care?
Answer: ………………………………………………..Question by …….:
Answer:…………………………………Btw, question for both of you: are you two married? :)
Answer: …………………………………………. -
-
well, drmike was married for all that’s worth; his ex is his pet topic in the forums occasionally. =P
anyway, regarding your blog presentation, you are able to recreate the way i’ve done my comments through the bold tag, which i’ve use, in your normal blog post, should you ever have a desire of being writer and answer to your ‘interview-style’ presentation. =)i’ve seen people done that before.

Thanks, not married to drmike sulz. I will try. I f you stumble on more examples like yours, please let me know.

Engaged actually. Angie and I were never married.
We acted like an old married couple though. It was kind of funny sitting in the cheap restaurants surrounded by elderly couples. :)

Sulz’s site seems to no longer be available; at least not the one that was referenced here. But then… I just noticed that this very forum topic has its responses sorted the way we’re trying to do it!! They’re top down! How did they do that?
Ughhh, in short, why isn’t there just a simple switch in the blog preferences that determines whether to sort ascending or descending? This would eliminate all sorts of hell that many of us are going through. I’m not only speaking of wordpress here, but in a general blog sense. I understand that someone came up with the brilliant idea of blogging, but why has no one come up with the brilliant idea of flexible sorting? Say, concert listings and the like, where the sequence really needs to be top down rather than bottom up.
It’s mind boggling that this is not a basic feature. Isn’t it??

Blogs are meant to be chronological journals frequently updated with the most recent posts on top. So the behaviours you are suggesting are out of step with what blogs are meant to do and be.
However, be of good cheer because wordpress has another alternative. The features you suggest can be readily gained by hiring a web host and downloading the free software from http://wordpress.org which you can hack to suit your needs.
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/wordpresscom-vs-wordpressorg/I have gone this route. I have excellent hosting for just $25. per year so don’t let less expense that a cup of fancy coffee per month prevent you from getting the kind of website that you want.
Happy blogging :) -
Why not announce it in your sidebars? Ask questions and send thru your email? And then you can post that on your entry with your reply to the question.
