Intro email course?

    Hi everyone!

    Just a quick post, in

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/start/

    The second one says

    “Try a Blogging Email Course

Want more support? Give our intro email course a try: two weeks of bite-size assignments help you publish posts, customize your blog, and engage with the blogging community. Build good blogging habits that will keep you going over the long haul!”

I would really love to be sent emails from WordPress teaching me the basics of blogging, but there is nothing in there that I can click whatsoever.

So my question is, how does one sign up for this intro email course?

    Thanks in advance everyone

    Hi there,

I see that if I visit this page –
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/start/

in the incognito or private mode (where I’m not logged in the WordPress.com account), it shows no buttons to start or register for the course.

However if you log in to your WordPress.com account on this page –
    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php

And then visit this page again –
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/start/

You’ll see the “Sign up for this course” button. After clicking that button you will receive an email with further instructions :)

    I hope this helps!

No problem. And don’t worry it’s not your mistake at all.

The button is definitely missing when someone is logged out. I don’t know why it is designed that way but I’ll report this to the staff so they can probably fix it.

In a way, you helped to find this issue, so thank you :)

Yes, but there should be something there leading to Blogging U even if not logged in. https://dailypost.wordpress.com/blogging-university/

I’ve tagged this for Staff attention. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

No problem thank you for the help guys.

Also when I click on the “start this course” menu, it does nothing except it turns into “stop this course”. This is normal, yes?

    To @staff,

I’m reporting two issues w.r.t the start page –

    1) Screenshot – https://cloudup.com/coVj1hxQSKX
Problem – Try blogging course section has no link or button when a person is logged out.
Suggestion – It should have something which leads to a login.

    2) Screenshot – https://cloudup.com/cCuz1HHC7bs
Problem – After logging in and clicking on the start course button. The button simply turns to ‘Stop this course’.
Suggestion – It should tell us that we’ll get an email or something.

    —

@practicalhealthadvice, that is how it works for now. But it should be fixed.

@practicalhealthadvice After you have signed up for the course, the button on that page changes to “stop this course.” That is the way the button was meant to function.

An introductory email and all course instructions will be sent to you by email.

If you need to pause your course, you can revisit the Blogging U page and click the button again to “stop this course”. :)

    Cheers.

    HI there,

@practicalhealthadvice it looks like you got the info you needed. The easiest way to access the courses is the blogging university link @justjennifer gave.

    @justjennifer and @omkarbhagat

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve followed up with the team that runs the Blogging U courses. I’ll let you know once I have more information on why there is no button or link for logged out users.

Just an update – the absence of a link on the getting started page was not intentional, and that has been fixed now. We’re also looking into if there’s a way to show the button for logged-out users, but it looks like that was specifically programmed to only be available for logged in users.

Thanks @kokkieh Can a link be added to the Business website building course as well? :)

Did they only add it to the one? I’ll follow up on that, thanks :)

It wasn’t when I posted earlier, but a link has been added since. :)
