intro page too dark

  Hi. I need help with the introductory page (Hello) on my blog . I have the Notebook theme. The featured image on the Hello page is behind an opacity filter. That filter is way too dark. I want to change it so that the featured image is not made to be so dark. I have the css upgrade, and I have been trying and trying to lighten the filter, but nothing I try is working. Please help.
