Introducing Site Logos: Personalize Your Blog, Display Your Brand

I am a theme developer and am very excited that WordPress.com has added a standard way to upload logos, at least for themes that support it. I’d like to build in support for this into my various themes that I have on WordPress.org.
Is there any documentation on how to add theme support? I tried downloading the Yoko theme which is listed here as supporting it, but the WordPress.org version of theme does not have this feature.
Will this feature be included in WordPress Core or more likely added to the Jetpack plugin? When will it be released?

Hello there!
Right now the Site Logo feature requires a plugin install on the WordPress.org site and using any supported theme will give the site owner the option to upload a logo.
