Introducing the Slideshow Shortcode
-
Switched to 2010 over the weekend and have just noticed that the photos in the slideshow here http://justjennifer.wordpress.com/2010/04/16/let-me-explain/ are no longer centered: on horizontal photos there’s more padding at the bottom than the top and the vertical photos break out of the top of the container. This is in FF3.5.9. Haven’t tried it yet in IE8.
FWIW, everything was fine in my previous theme, Vigilance.

@buyathread-thank you for alerting me. Everything OK now on that slideshow in FF3.5.9 too. :)

thanks WordPress for creating a new feature :)<33
i hope you can choose the sizes of the slide in the future -
I’ve read this whole thread and see the problem with images appearing in the header on the home page is quite frequent. I’m using Safari and the same issue arises very often. Any news on that? I’m not sure whether I should remove the slideshows for now… I don’t mind refreshing the page, but many of my views aren’t exactly computer savvy and may not think of doing that. Suggestions are welcome.

Slideshow looks great in IE, but terrible in Firefox with multiple slideshows on the same page. Any news on a fix? Thanks!

first thx
is it possible to add captions, alt. texts for images.
and what is the order of pictures? alphabetical, random?
regards -
no news we guess..
it is a great fixture and when the wp staff upgrades it, it will be extremely usefull. -
I should have started my previous comment by saying how much I like this feature. I use it all the time on createthreesixty5.com. I guess we should stop being so demanding considering they released it as fast as they could so we could take advantage of it. I love that I can show more visuals without having endless picture posts. I can’t wait to see what the upcoming upgrades will be like. Great work guys!

Great idea! I am off to make one now. It would be neat to add a slideshow to the header as well. Just an idea :)
-
would love for the pictures-hanging-in-the-header-problem to be solved!
how wonderful would life be … (and my blog for that) -
Has there been any progress on making this plugin available for those of us on hosted wordpress blogs? Would love to see this. I thought I read somewhere it was coming soon and they thought April. Please update. Thanks!

Any progress on a solution on this?

Can we get a run down and or list started as to what the SLIDESHOW looks like in some various popular browsers -as it seems this may or may not be sorted out soon.
I am using Firefox 3.6.3 and it has never worked correctly.
I get the images loaded at the very top of the post/page. Or it loads correctly (every once in a while), but will only show 1-2 images before flaking out!
*Other times I have got it to work by double-clicking on the right arrow only?!
To me it just seems too buggy and or unreliable to post -when it works it’s pretty cool, but not worth the headache (and not-to-mention the bad blow to your sites rep) when it does not work properly.
Misc.
When I initially inserted (39 .jpg images) without having saved the post as a draft then it really flaked. Then I read somewhere on this forum that perhaps you have to save the post/draft FIRST and then attach the pics.
I did that and it did seemed to do OK and so then I hit “preview” and it only worked and loaded correctly about 1 out of 10 in Firefox.
When I did strike gold (well I thought ;) by renaming ALL of the .jpg’s and re-arranging their order, then I immediately POSTED the article and made it “live”…only to be embarrassed when the 2 photographers work I was trying to “show-off” and or promote in said post did not work and I promptly received confused e-mails from said photographers.
I am wondering if it has something to do with
1. image file size
2.image dimensions
3. file name(s)
4. qty. of imagesSo once again, everyone please state your browser and it’s behavior so we can decide if we need to make the slide show into Photo Galleries temp.
Oh I almost forgot: I am using Chaos Theory theme too.
Take care everyone, and good luck!

Some readers have informed me that the slide show looks OK when using:
Google Chrome and Safari (Mac)
On my PC, Google Chrome does a bit better than Firefox but still has issues.

Hi,
Slideshow is an awesome feature, I use it for nearly all my images but I’m having the same problem as @marpan and the many others above. I find that Google Chrome works best but I’m pretty sure a lot of my viewers use other browsers too.Looking forward to the fix from the WP people ;-D

Slideshow is great, love it, but can we have a way of controlling the size of the playback area and the background colour?

I’m having the same problem as others with slideshow images in my header on the landing page- I’m new to this, thought I’d screwed up, but seems its a bug. Any news on when its going to work on firefox? I really like the feature….
