Invalid certificate on Why Evolution Is True
-
When I open WEIT, Kaspersky sends me an invalid certificate warning, which I have to override. It appears to relate to i.imgur.com. I would add a screenshot, but can’t see how.

Hi haggisforbrainsds7,
Can you please let us know the address of the site you have an issue with?
Thanks!

Sorry guys, first time here, and I thought I’d made it clear:

Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache/cookies?
Also you can take a screenshot using droplr.com
Hope this helps

From the basic check, it looks like your certificate is ok and that should be trusted by all major web browsers.
It would be good if we can know the exact error that Kaspersky is showing.

Thanks Carl,
I’ve been through my cookies in Firefox (sorry forgot to mention my browser before), and cleared the ones associated with imgur. I’ll wait and see if that helps.

Blazevivan, I’m not sure what Carl means about using droplr.com to show the screenshot, but I’ll have a look and see if I can do that.

Sorry Colin, I should have explained. droplr.com will take a screenshot of your desktop or window and host it. You can then post the link here so we can see what you’re seeing.

OK, so I’ve downloaded Droplr, run it, and have managed at last to work out how to open it, but I have no instructions on how to use it. Sorry this seems to be escalating!

I have a funny blob icon which I can move about. nothing happens when I left click, and when I right click, the only useful option seems to be “show droplr for windows” Clicking that gives several options, and when I click the Screenshot option it greys the entire screen, and the only option then seems to be “escape”! Oh, hang on ,they’ve just sent me an email with a “getting started guide”. I’ll be back!

OK , I think I get droplr now, so if you want any other screenshots, just tell me.

Hey haggisforbrainsds7,
The official Kaspersky support for this error says the following:
The article is applicable to Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Kaspersky Internet Security, Kaspersky Total Security versions 2015, 2016, and 2017.
When you go to a web page you may encounter a pop-up warning with the text “Cannot guarantee authenticity of the domain to which encrypted connection is established”.
When this occurs there is something wrong with the certificate of this website. The site may be fraudulent or vulnerable to data interception. The information you leave there can get into the hands of cyber criminals. It is not recommended to load the page.
If you are sure that the webpage is safe, click Continue.
As I mentioned before, from the basic check it looks like your certificate is Ok, but you can double check with the provider where you purchased the certificate.
The solution for this is to disable pop-ups in Kaspersky, and here is the official Kaspersky support instruction to help you with that.
Go to “Disable pop-ups” section: https://support.kaspersky.com/us/12489Hope this helps!

Thanks Colin,
I’m having trouble trying to recreate the warning. I tried on Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
Like @blazevivan mentioned could be an issue at Kaspersky or at imgur.Sorry I couldn’t help with this

Thanks blazevivian. I’ve been visiting this site daily for years, so know it is safe. However it seems silly to buy Kaspersky Internet Security and then disable a feature because in one instance I know it to be wrong. I wondered if WordPress had made some mistake which was causing this, and didn’t realise I was posting to a forum when I sent this – I naively thought I was sending an email to WordPress, informing them of a problem which they might want to look into.
Thanks for your help and advice, but I guess I’ll just put up with cancelling it each time.
Cheers,
Colin.
