INVALID KEY _ SICK TO DEATH OF IT AFTER 12 MONTHS AND NO SUPPORT

  • Unknown's avatar

I have continually contacted WP with this issue. I log in via FF 3.6.10, try to go to a story and i get INVALID KEY. this happens again and again and again and again and AGAIN. All i ver get from WP is “clear your cookies” and then nothing. What in gods name is the problem. Today I cannot even just type in the URL http://www.thephnompen.asia without getting INVALID KEY.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, first of all the URL is http://thephnompen.asia/

Now we’ve got that straightened out, tell me if you have the CSS upgrade and if you’ve been tinkering with the CSS at all? Because your sidebar is way up in your header’s bidness. If you don’t have the upgrade and you haven’t been tinkering, then you should indeed report THAT to staff as a separate issue, even though it’s probably related.

That URL resolves fine for me. Have you tried using a different browser such as IE or…? Does it happen there too?

Is there anything else to the error message, and where does it show up?

  • Unknown's avatar

@raincoaster, that is the way the fusion theme is designed, with the sidebar overlapping the header.

    Hi,
No CSS upgrade. No tinkering EVER. Today i changed the theme from choraline to Fusion ( and have just changed it back again ) but when I try to go and see it….INVALID KEY ! Basically if i log in and then try to go the main page by simply clicking on the title in the admin panel ( which is a link ) i get the IK warning. If i try to view posting from the stats page, same. If i go into POSTS and then click on a post, I can view the post with the text window open ( like I was in authoring mode ) but when i click VIEW POST…..IK again. It happens over and over and had been going on for 12 months over 2 different laptops now. I will try IE8….

The only thing I can think of is to check your preferences and make sure cookies are enabled.

  • Unknown's avatar

tsp: is it, because it looks awful. Thanks for the correction.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yeah, it’s the way it is designed. That is sort of starting to become a trend. I’m seeing more and more themes and templates that are overlapping elements. Some like it, some don’t. Truthfully when you spend more than ten or 15 minutes looking at themes (on the web) what you discover is that there are only about 15 original designs. The rest are just color changes. There are precious few theme designers out there with real design sense from my perspective.

    Cookies are enabled.

  • Unknown's avatar

Would an older version of FF help ?

  • Unknown's avatar

It can’t hurt. Have you tried IE? One version of FF essentially disabled posting altogether. Might as well try.

  • Unknown's avatar

3.6.10 should be fine. I looked at your site using that version (Mac though) and no errors came up.

Just asking, but did this happen about the time you added fonts from typekit?

  • Unknown's avatar

Does it happen with the theme you are using now?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes it is still happening with coraline. I tried d/l IE8 and I am now getting “not a valid WIN32 application” for every .exe d/l i try….that’s a whole other issue ! You know…you might be right about the typekits thing……can i uninstal ?

  • Unknown's avatar

i have canceled what was only a trial account with Typekits and then i removed the code in the typekit part of my dashboard. Amazing…if i then hit my THEPHNOMPEN link next to the WP logo…….INVALID KEY !!! I swear this will be the death of me.

I’ve tagged this thread for staff attention. Hopefully they will see it and respond.

I’ve never experienced or hear of this error happening, so I have no more ideas.

  • Unknown's avatar

A search at Google turned up issues with things like virus programs and some security programs (PGP).

Do you have another computer, or perhaps a close friend with one where you could try logging into your blog to see what happens?

  • Unknown's avatar

    @jgarnett

I am able to access your site without seeing the error message, but sorry to hear that you’re continuing to experience the problem.
I found your ticket from June and August regarding this issue and last 2 replies from us suggested upgrading the browser and trying another browser for testing. We haven’t heard back from you on either of them so we weren’t sure if it helped or not.

Could you tell us which version of Firefox you’re currently using?
Did you try out different browsers? If so, what happened when you did?
As @thesacredpath suggested, what happens if you turn off antivirus software?

Please give us feedback on our reply instead of creating new tickets so we can see all of your background information with the problem right away.

    He’s using FF 3.6.10

  • Unknown's avatar

I am using FF 3.6.10. I never had this problem on older versions of FF.

I am trying to d/load Chrome and IE8 but my PC is not executing files for some reason. I will get that fixed.

I have turned off AVAST and I am still experiencing the INVALID KEY issue.
