Invalid request or log file not found/unreadable

I updated several plugins in but today, but then things got weird. I installed a new plugin and then tried to activate it, but got the error in the subject.

Then, the system said that I needed to update WooCommerce which I tried, but got the same error as the subject. I did some back and forth with Grok and the suggestion was to find plugins that used the REST API identified using this string ‘woocommerce_rest_api_option_permissions‘. Only WooCommerce and WooPayments had that, so I deactivated WooPayments and was able to update the WooCommerce plugin.

Unfortunately, I still could active (or deactivate) any other plugins with receiving the error. I even re-installed WP in the process.

BTW, none of these errors are written to the debug log as the error seems to occur and the log for some reason cannot be found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I had the same error.

The root cause is Divi Contact Form Helper plugin and its recent update 1.7.13 that broke it. The previous 1.7.12 was ok. They already promised to fix it in 1.7.14 that will be out very soon. You can contact the plugin author on the forum.

Actually I just found out that the plugin author published the solution here, for those who can’t wait.

Fantastic! That was exactly my problem.

I saw that version 1.7.14 was available today and first went to Dashboard > Update to update just that plugin. Unfortunately, the same error occurred.

So, I went to Plugins > Installed Plugins and tried to update there. That worked!

I was then able to update another plugin and activate one that I couldn’t yesterday.

    Thanks so much!

  • Hi @estgelais,

It sounds like the issue has been resolved after updating the plugin. In that case, we will mark this thread as resolved.
