Invalid URL after Changing to HTTPS
-
Hello, I am quite new to WordPress and my friend asked me to enhance the speed. I watched the Youtube Video of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIZrqq-aiWE&t=918s&ab_channel=JackCao.
I follow the step where I change the URL from http://develop.hardolass.com to https://www.develop.hardolass.com, and now I cannot access the page anymore, saying it is an invalid URL. Now, I cannot access the wp-admin to change it back. Does anyone have any clue to revert the website back?
Appreciate it!

Hi there,
I’m afraid it’s not as simple as just changing the URL from http to https :)
Before a site can load over https, you first need to register a SSL certificate for the domain, and then that needs to be installed and configured on your server. Along with that there’s also a specific process you need to follow to update the URL in WordPress itself – changing that URL setting in Settings ->General is just one of the steps.
You can find the documentation for the address change process here.
https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/
However, many hosting providers have their own process for this, and you’d also need to follow their process for configuring https. So please contact the site’s hosting provider directly for help with this – they should be able to reset the site address for you so you can access it again, and then point you to their process for setting up a SSL certificate on the domain.
By the way, the forums you posted to here is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. The best place to get help with the open source WordPress software that site is using is from the WordPress.org community who makes it. Their forums are at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
