Invited friend can post to my blog

I invited a friend to comment on a private blog. He used the link in the email to register as a WordPress user and created a trial blog. I added him to the user list as a contributor only, the lowest option, there was no option for ‘comment only’.
Now he went to edit his blog, and found the invited blog on the dashboard as well as his own. This means that he can post new topics, but I only want him to post comments.
There has surely got to be a lower level of user than ‘contributor’. You can’t have people effectively hijacking your blog even if they are your friend.
    Many thanks
(http://megalosaurus.wordpress.com. He is the only person on the user list apart from me.)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Instead of adding the person as a contributor, you want to go to settings > privacy and enter him there. You will want to delete him as a contributor under users > authors and users.

Yes of course. Forgot I’d set it temporarily to public view, where the user options disappear.
    Thanks for quick reply.
Annoyingly, he is still in the author list in my sidebar. Is this correct? He’s going to comment once or twice and then go away.

…he went away after I logged out and in again.
