invited viewers not being added to blog viewer list

    I have a private blog. Two weeks ago WordPress changed the way I am allowed to add viewers (not users) to my readers list. I used to be able to do this manually, but now I have to sent each viewer and invitation.

    This wouldn’t be so bad but today (November 15) I have sent several invitations to new viewers who have clicked on the “accept the invitation” link but their user names were NOT then added to my readers list. WordPress reports that it is still “waiting” to hear from these viewers whom I have invited.

    Any idea what is going on and suggestions for a fix?

    No.

    I have finally found a link that enables me to manually add a user to my list or private blog readers. But the standard invitation process is not working for my blog.
    Several new readers complained about this today and have accepted my invitation and resent invitation to no effect.

    In all these cases I should have received an e-mail telling me that the user had accepted an invitation – and if I check my readers list after such an e-mail I would find the new user’s name at the end of the list.

    BUT, this is not happening today – I don’t get the confirming e-mail and the user is not added to my list.

    As I said above, I have found a work-around using the link WordPress sends me when a user requests to follow my blog. But this is awkward and requires several steps.
