Invitee to private site – his username not accepted after trying to register

  I invited someone to join my private community site. Using his Iphone he responded to the form but then by mistake pressed login again partially completed the new form not realizing this might cause a problem. Now he can’t get any access. BUT he also can’t try a new password because he gets an error message that says his email address or username is not registered. He is in a catch 22 – he can’t verify what his user name or account is and he can’t verify his password.
  I tried deleting him from the site invitees and sending invite again – I’m not sure this helped.
  His email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff) (he doesn’t have alternative address). I have invited him to join eucumbenecove.wordpress.com. which is set up as a private site for a small community. Others have accepted with no problems.
  He is NOT trying to set up his own blog but the system seems to think he is.
  Can you please, please help??. I may another couple of invitees in the same trouble.

  Hi Patrick,

  Currently, it is not possible to sign-up for just a username from a mobile browser. Users will need to sign-up for both a username and a blog, although they never need to use or post anything to the blog. Basically, they just need to sign-up for a WordPress.com account.

  I don’t see an account with the email address you mention. Can you have him navigate to the following address and attempt to setup an account?

  https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/

  Then, you can re-invite him to view your private blog.
