That is unexpected, since I have shared only one of the 3 emails that we show as having been delivered successfully to (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Can you please check your email’s spam folder or any other folder you might have in case that email was caught by a filter?

I was looking into your site today to see if I could further investigate this issue, but I noticed that you seem to have sent out more invites recently, and also have had a few people accept invites, and they are now viewers on your site.
Can you tell us a bit more about that? In my tests I seem to not be able to invite myself (using my email address) and I see the same error messages that you have reported, and also did not receive an email or notification on my end
Is it the case that the issue you are facing is intermittent? Are you sometimes able to get folks to accept the invite to your site? Or are you using some other method for invites you sent out in the last 24 hours?
We’re still investigating on this end, so any extra info you can provide will help, thanks!

Those are the ones who requested access after i let them know how to join since the invites are not working. I approved them & saw that it shows them as accepted, but they DID NOT do it through the invitation. I am 1000% positive of that.
No, nothing has gone through since i 1st posted to this thread. Thank u, it will be a relief if this ever gets back to normal!

Thanks for confirming. That worked in my tests as well, and I am glad you happened upon it as a workaround.
For now I’ve reported this issue to our devs, but we’re still not entirely sure what the root cause. We have in the past had this issue pop up on other sites, but the issue was only temporary and cleared up after waiting a bit. If you switch to the workaround for now, and wait a few days to send an invite, does that change anything?
In the meantime I am reporting this on our end as-is, but if you can try that as an experiment and report back, I think that info will help.
For now we are not sure on the timeline for a resolution since our devs are still investigating, but we will reply here as soon as we know more, thanks!

So i tried to invite people today & the option to add new viewers is gone. Now there is only:
Administrator
Editor
Author
Contributor -

Also, something new that never was there before:
A checkbox that says “This user is a contractor, freelancer, consultant, or agency. ¡ Use this checkbox to flag users who are not part of your organization.”I checked & it’s the same on my laptop as on my phone.

The setting for contractors et. al. is actually not a new feature, so this should have always shown as an option: https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/#contractor-freelancer-consultant-or-agency
Also when I check as I mention this page appears as it should. Here is a screenshot of what I see, with private info hidden:

I think it will help to see what you see when you try to visit https://wordpress.com/people/viewers/amissionaryslife.wordpress.com as well. We do not have any reports of that view being unexpectedly empty. To share a screenshot with us, you can upload it to the Media Library on your site, and then let us know and we can take a look.
Also I see you are using Chrome. Out of curiosity do you have this same issue if you use an alternate browser like Firefox instead? I’d be curious to know if the issue is with Chrome on Windows, since it works for me in Chrome on my Mac.

I’m sorry. I’m not going to do all of that, it clearly won’t resolve anything. The fact is it’s not working & now it’s completely different then it has been the last 10 years. Please can someone just fix it. Thank u

I put it in media, but u realize this has been ongoing for more than 10 days.
I don’t mean to be rude, but i feel like by now i have demonstrated that i AM familiar with how it should be & i AM telling the truth as i type out word for word something we have NEVER seen before & isn’t right. I would appreciate not having to prove everything twice over please.
We didn’t cause this, it just stopped working & when we asked for help to get it fixed has now been made worse by removing our ability to invite any new veiwers at all.
Please, we don’t use pugins or anything weird (not even an option). It just needs to be like it was before Oct 21st. Thank u for ur help & understanding.

Happy to report Viewers is back & we are about to send invites again! Thank u for fixing this! Is there a way the default on the form can be Viewer like it was before please? Or else we are going to end up with editors by mistake (the default now). Thank u
