Invites not so helpful

  • Unknown's avatar

Perhaps I’m missing something but twice now I’ve recorded the process to invite to my blog. Each time the invitee goes through the sign up, validate email, and activate and ends up at a Blogs I Follow page, with no mention of the blog that the invitation came from. The Blogs I Follow page is less than helpful (BTW, my invitees and I are not “Friends”…) as they are mostly not familar with blogs to begin with. I suspect, at this point, since they’re seeing potentially, even more steps, I’ll lose them completely. Is there something I’ve missed that would make this easier for my invitees to get to my blog or does this invitation procedure require additional steps, either from me or the invitee?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve not had much luck, in fact, any luck, with Staff getting back to me. I would have thought my original question was pretty straightforward. Was it unclear, or is the answer unavailable for some reason?
    tks,

Actually, the invitation e-mail mentions the blog where the invite comes from.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

umm.. yes, but its not on the “Blogs I Follow” page. So my invitees, as I mentioned, may have no idea what to do next. Unless, of course, they’re Happiness Engineers.

I see links to other blogs (of which my invitees may have no interest…) but not to the blog they were invited to. Weird, eh?

Thanks for getting back to me.

Is there a timeframe for this? I’d like to be able to send out invites as soon as possible.

    Hi there,

Karim is out of town but I wanted to make sure that someone got back to you.

Unfortunately there is not a timeframe for this improvement. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience!

Going back to my original post, about something I’m evidently not getting. Why would WP provide an invite function that doesn’t lead the invitee back to the source of the invitation? What’s the logic here??

  • Unknown's avatar

As far as I know this this only happens to non WordPress.com users. As mentioned before, our developing team is currently working on improving this it but there’s no timeframe.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Welcome back… the invitation function worked really well a year or two ago when I first started the blog. I wonder why a decision was made to mess with it?? Anyway, what is the current recommended procedure to get invitees on to the blog they were invited to?? Thanks…

The procedure is the same. They can click on the blog title on the ‘Blog’s I follow’ page to go to your blog. Or visit the blog through the invitation e-mail they got.

I agree this process has to be improved and that’s why our developing team is working on that.

    Thank you for your patience.
