Inviting new followers

I did not understand what checking ‘administrator’ to the personal invitations to my blog would make it so difficult for friends to log on. Now they can’t go directly to my site, but need to establish a wordpress account. It doesn’t work well. Please help me correct this error.

    Hi there :)

Your site can have multiple administrators, editors, authors, and contributors, so you don’t have to manage your site on your own. It also keeps your account secure by giving you a way to allow others to edit/manage your site without using your login.

Other user roles, like “Follower”, “Subscriber”, and “Viewer” allow you to manage who can see content on your site and who receives email updates of new blog posts.

Here you can read everything about inviting people to your website:

    https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/#administrator

Checking ‘administrator’ to your blog’s personal invitations will allow them to have complete control over posts, pages, uploaded files, comments, settings, themes, imports, exports, and other users. If you would only like to invite your friends to view your site, I suggest following the steps on the link above in the chapter Changing User Roles.

  • Hi @triteri,

If you want your friends to read your posts, there is no need to send invites. You would just share your site’s address with them: journeyswithjosie.wordpress.com.

If you send them invites to be part of your theme – to create the site and the content with you, you will be giving them different types of permissions. That will require them to create a WordPress.com account.
