Inviting users

  I just paid for a self-hosted wordpress site so that I could invite users without their having to create a wordpress account. But when I go to the user invites section of the dashboard, it seems to require new users to set up a wordpress account, just as with hosted sites.
  Also, I don’t understand why I have to redirect from blognamedotorg.wordpress.com to the paid-for domain.

  http://interfaithmissoula.org/ is still a WordPress.com blog.

  What you paid for was a domain name, we don’t offer hosting services.

  If you want a self-hosted blog, you’ll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on a hosting provider. We have some recommendations at http://get.wordpress.com/hosting/

  Then, you you can direct your domain there by changing your nameservers: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

  Once that’s done, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

  To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
