Inviting users who do not want a blog – they only want to register
-
I have a private blog and I want to be able to invite users to visit the blog but they don’t need a blog – they just need an account. It used to be that there was an option to request only a username and password – not a blog. I don’t see that option anymore in the sign up form. thanks for the help
LauraThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That option “just a username account please” still exists it’s just not that noticeable. See also > Inviting Contributors, Followers, and Viewers – Invite People to View Your Private Blog

Hi,
thank you for the response – the problem is that when they click on the link to register – it takes them to the page that only allows them to sign up for a blog – and not just a username/password – I have looked at the registration page and it only allows you to sign up for a blog – which they don’t want. -
Thanks for the additional detail. This thread is now tagged for Staff attention. Please subscribe to it so your are notified when they respond.

I’ve already replied directly to the support request you sent by email, so that I can get further details about your invited viewer who’s having a problem.
The default registration form includes a link to ” signup for just a username” directly to the right of the prompt to create a blog address:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/For an invited viewer whose email address isn’t recognized as a WordPress.com user, the link they receive by email to create an account takes them directly to this username only signup form:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1Please note that for checking out either of the links above — in case you’d like to see exactly what an invited viewer would see — you should first sign out of your own WordPress.com account.
