inviting viewers

  I am very new to this process. I have set up a blog, and am now trying to let my family and friends know about it. I do not want this out to the world, so I set up my blog as Private. Did that then make it so they can only view it if they have an account to WordPress?

  When you set your site to private, your family or friends will need to be invited to view your site:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#adding-and-removing-viewers-on-a-private-site

  For that, they do need a WordPress.com account.
