IP address blocked
-
We have a webserver at 80.87.128.36 which is unable to connect via HTTP or HTTPS to any IP address to which lb.wordpress.com resolves (in order to include RSS feeds). We’ve determined that the requests are making it as far as the last hop before yours, so it looks like our IP address has been blocked.
What is the procedure for having it unblocked?

When I dig the address of one of the blogs concerned I see this:
[0]<10:15:36>avi@amazing:~ $ host dandelionsalad.wordpress.com
dandelionsalad.wordpress.com is an alias for lb.wordpress.com.
lb.wordpress.com has address 76.74.254.123
lb.wordpress.com has address 192.0.81.250
lb.wordpress.com has address 76.74.254.120
lb.wordpress.com has address 192.0.80.250
lb.wordpress.com has address 66.155.9.238
lb.wordpress.com has address 66.155.11.238
[0]<10:15:41>avi@amazing:~ $
Have I got something awfully wrong with my DNS? The host I’m running that on is on a completely different network to our webserver (which also returns the CNAME to lb.ordpress.com).

Hi there,
Are you having trouble accessing the RSS feed of a particular blog? Can you let me know what that blog is?
Thanks!
Andrew D.

It is any blog whose DNS name resolves to lb.wordpress.com; any wordpress.com blog that does this (which appears to be all of them) is one to which I cannot connect.
That dandelionsalad one above is one so affected.

Hello there!
Thanks for clearing that up. We don’t particularly block specific people or ip addresses from accessing our site. My guess is it could have something do with your ISP or webserver not resolving our host names correctly. You may want to try using a DNS service such as OpenDNS and see if there’s any improvement.
Let me know how that goes. Thank you!
Andrew D.

I’ve pasted my DNS resolutions above; are they wrong?
I checked on each of them, and they seem to be pointing to non-existent WordPress.com blogs. Did OpenDNS work for you?
Cheers,
Andrew D.
