Hi there! As I understand you want to point domain ( the one you purchased from HostGator ) to the website: https://pixelgreat.wordpress.com/
Basically when the domain will be accessed, the content from here https://pixelgreat.wordpress.com/ will be loaded, right?
If this is what you want, you must map your domain to your WordPress.com blog – this will guide you step by step: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
An IP is necessary only if you want to keep the name servers at HostGator and point the A record to WordPress.com – but is this something you want to do ?
However, if you purchased hosting as well from HostGator, and you intend to migrate everything from WordPress.com and move to HostGator, then you must migrate your data as well.
Please find some time and read this step-by-step tutorial: https://move.wordpress.com/
If you have any other questions, please let me know and I’ll be happy to help you!

Thanks for your reply, I’ve changed the nameservers now and pointed them to HostGator, I’ve also exportedmy data to wordpress.org now so I think (!!) I’m ok now.
Thanks for your help!
