IP address needed

Names.co.uk is asking for IP address in order to point my domain to another provider/external web hosting as my domain name is registered with them.

Hi there,
You can point your domain to WordPress.com using WordPress.com nameservers. You’ll find the steps here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
You can also do step two in the above guide manually, here is the guide for Names.co.uk: https://www.names.co.uk/support/1161-changing_the_nameservers_for_a_domain_name.html
As regards IP address, this option is not encouraged because it’s not static and may affect the domain when it changes. If it’s still required, you can contact support. You’ll more information here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/ip-addresses/

Hi retailexpertisegroup,
Just adding to the information @labifrancis provided. Domain mapping is a two way connection so you will need to do two things in order for it to work:
- Purchase a paid WordPress.com plan and choose domain mapping
- Point the domain to WordPress.com from your Names.co.uk account
I agree with @labifrancis’s suggestion of pointing the domain to WordPress.com by changing the name servers rather than IP addresses, if possible.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
