IP address of fraudulent password change

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

There was a fraudulent login and password change connected to my account, before the person in question removed all of my posts/design etc. Thankfully it was all backed up and I was able to get my site back, but I’d now like to find out who hacked me. Do WordPress keep records of the IP addresses connected to such actions, and if so can I ask them to share with me the IP address of the login/password change that I was notified at on Fri, Apr 24, 5:56 PM (10 days ago)?

If WordPress are not able to share this information so I can track the IP address myself, is there any other way they can help me find out who hacked my account?

    Thank you!
    Alice

    Hi there,

I am tagging this post for staff’s attention as matters like these can only be resolved by the internal team.

  • Hi Alice –

What site is in question here?

Consider adding 2 factor authentication to both your WordPress.com account and email client. That will give you another added layer of protection.

We don’t release that type of information in the public forum as account security is the account owner’s responsibility.
