IP address was changed by Dreamhost

  Dreamhost did some random updating and changed our IP address. They said I need to update it on my end manually. The old IP address is: 208.113.192.176 The new IP address is 64.111.125.186 the website is http://www.sarahsoasis.org I’m desperate for help. Our site has been down now for over 24 hours. Thanks Martha

  Update: I managed to figure out how to change my IP address manually so I have resolved the issue. I had no idea my IP address could be randomly changed. It would be interesting to know more about this. The site is back up now and updated.

  I am glad that all is working well for you now. Nice work with the IP address changes!

  IP addresses can change. It’s one of the reason we ask our own users to use our name servers ( ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com, ns3.wordpress.com ) when they map to our servers. This way, if the IP addresses change here, service isn’t interrupted because our name servers will remain the same.

  You may ask Dreamhost if you can map with name servers, rather than an IP address. This could be insurance that you don’t have any downtime in the future.
