IP Addresses for Nameservers with GoDaddy

Hi, my provider, GoDaddy requires IP addresses for my nameservers. Per my research, this is their rule, and I know WP.com rather not use them, due to possible changes over time. Would you kindly provide so I can have two of my URLs point to the servers? Thank you.

  • Hi michaeldonohoe, just to clarify, are you looking for the address for the nameservers themselves, or for the IP address for your site, on our name servers?

If you’re looking for the address for your site, it depends on the site, but you can use NSlookup to find the correct IPs.

First, make sure the domain has mapping here on our servers (it won’t work without it). Then, type the following at a command prompt, substituting the silly domain here for your real one:

    nslookup yourgroovydomain.com ns1.wordpress.com

That will tell you what our name servers would point the site to.

If you just want the IP addresses for the name servers themselves, try

    nslookup ns1.wordpress.com

and do the same with ns2.wordpress.com and ns3.wordpress.com.

If you have any confusion on this, or if we’ve misunderstood what you need, just let us know — and please let us know what your domain is and what site you’re mapping to. We’re happy to help you sort this out.
