  Hi,

  Generally we prefer to use nameservers for connecting domains to WordPress.com sites. IP addresses can change over time and that can cause domains to become disconnected from their WordPress.com site.

  Is there a specific reason you need to use an IP address to connect your domain?

  Hi,

  Thanks for your answer. I believe I’m obliged to pay for WordPress to use nameservers for connecting? I’m not sure if that is possible. I believe the only opportunity to connect for free is by using the IP address, is that correct? Do you know in what timeframe the IP addresses of WordPress change?

  Free WordPress.com sites use the provided “wordpress.com” address and do not have the ability to accept a custom address, regardless of the DNS connection method used. An upgrade to one of our plans would be necessary in this case.
