    Hi Virginia,

We don’t have a single IP address for your site since we have your site on a number of geographically-diverse servers to improve speed and uptime.

Since we change out the IPs we use based on when different datacenters/server go online, we don’t suggest using IP addresses.

Our suggested route is to map your domain (by adding it via the Store > My Domains page on your site’s dashboard), add the MX records currently on your site to our Store > My Domains > Edit DNS, and then change your nameservers to WordPress.com.

However, if you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to the two IPs from the list below.

There is a red section that states
The name servers need to be updated to
    NS1.coolandquirk.com. And
    NS2.coolandquirk .com

Where exactly do I entre these NS1 and NS2 titles. Can you guide me.
I have gone: store, my domains, selected coolandquirk.com, edit, DNS Edit……what next. Where do I entre these NS1 and NS2 titles??

Am I on the right track. So confused and frustrated!

    Cheers, Virginia

    Hi Virginia,

Where are you seeing that alert? It is rather unusual; name servers should point to your hosting service, not to your custom domain itself. Are you referring to our alert here on WordPress.com that looks like this?

If so, that alert refers to the actual values of NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM, not replacing WORDPRESS.COM with your own domain.

Changing name servers is to be done with your registrar. In your case, that’s GoDaddy. Here are their instructions to change name servers:

    https://support.godaddy.com/help/article/12317/setting-custom-nameservers-for-domains-registered-with-us

Follow those instructions and add the following to map your domain to WordPress.com:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

We also have a sample email available here, if you’d rather write to GoDaddy support and have them adjust the name servers for you:
