Hi there,
We had a report of this once before, and a fix was deployed. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this!
Can you give me some background? Can you view other videos from WordPress (for example, wordpress.tv) on your iPad, or is this just limited to your site?
What version of the operating system are you running?
What format did you upload the videos in?
Thanks for any clarifying information you can provide!

Zandyring, Thank you for getting back to me. I really appreciate it.
Because I’m not real tech-savvy, I can’t answer all your questions, but here goes. I don’t own an iPad so can’t test wordpress.tv. A year ago I was at a friend’s house and could not play my wordpress videos on his iPad, and then last weekend I was at a store and the salesman could not play my wordpress videos on the latest ($700) iPad demo model — but was able to play my videos from YouTube.
Format? My wordpress website “media library” page indicates that the format is “MOV”. I note the most troubling thing: before posting my videos to the internet (whether it be YouTube or my wordpress site), I run them through “Compressor” (the Mac application) and select the format for uploading on the internet to a site like YouTube. What’s troubling is that both my Youtube and wordpress videos therefore have the same format, yet one plays on iPad and the other does not. I can check at home tonight the specific name and specifications of the format I’m using. Allow me to end this message by pointing out that this is a very serious issue for WordPress. As you are no doubt aware, views from portable devices like iPad account for a large and increasing share of internet views of videos. WordPress is at a serious competitive disavantage if one cannot view its videos on iPad.
Thanks,

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the clarifying info. I look forward to hearing a bit more from you when you’re back at home later so we can effectively troubleshoot. Additionally, can you let me know if you were checking in Safari or on the iOS app?
We are able to see the videos using Safari on an iPad, for what it’s worth.
Cheers!

Ok: I’ll follow up from home as you instruct.
Quick question: when you say we are to see the videos: are you able to play — not just see — the videos? At BestBuy last weekend we could see the image of my videos at
timothycone.wordpress.com
but when we clicked to play we got a crossed through upside down arrow icon, and the video refused to play. A shame because, as you’ll see if you go and play any of them, they’re unbelievably good! -
Hi there,
Yes, we were able to play the videos back as well. The lullaby one had some really neat music. I really want to help you get this cleared up so your excellent content is reliably available everywhere!

Thanks for the kind words about my videos. Well I guess it’s good news that you can play them back — I assume you mean play them back on an iPad. For what it may be worth, I have checked the format of the lullaby piece (that would not play on the Best Buy demo iPad, though YouTube would play my videos on YouTube) and the dimensions are 1280 x 780, the Codecs are H.264, AAC, Timecode, and the Color Profile is HD (1-1-1). 2 Audio Channels. Total bit rate: 9,751.
Thanks,

Yes, we tested by playing them back on an iPad.
I’ll take these settings and see what I can dig up on them!
