iPad and paste
-
Copy link in safari open WordPress app.
Insert link, use paste.
Paste shows up but nothing pastes in the insert link, also paste not working in say HTML or basically appears as no paste option on an iPad running lastest OS as of March 2017.
Can paste if I open my WordPress in safari on iPad
Am I correct in that WordPress app on an iPad does not support paste function ?

Hi again, Rob,
According to the news announcement and the iTunes store linked to in the above announcement, v 7.1 is the latest version.
I’d point you to the forums specific to the iPad/IPhone app, which is run separately from these forums and requires an ORG username log in. If you don’t have one, you can register it on that page.
Personally I don’t have an iDevice, so can’t test this issue for you.
Again, sorry your original question was overlooked. With hundreds of new forum threads posted in the public forums each day, it can happen. If you ever run into the situation where you haven’t gotten a reply within a day or two of your original post, feel free to remind us that you are still waiting for a reply by adding to your original post.

Thank you Jennifer,
For zipper response, as you do not have access in the word press company to a portable tablet environment (ipad pro) can i or may i advise the word press app company that the copy paste in my experience using a tablet is not supporting copy paste.
Example copy link in safari and place into the URL word press app and paste this is not working so possible solutions / ideas
1: I have tried copy paste of a url into notes app on the iPad and then copy paste this url into word press app – this does not work
2: I have tried to copy a URL from safari and then paste into word press app no joy.
3: I come to the possible thinking that word press app appears not to support on an iPad the copy paste function. (if anyone can with the above OS and word press v7.1 please tell)
4: Work around solutions, i start up the desk top computer and edit in this environment in safari browser avoid app word press.
5: Solution can be easy fix but this is to be done from your end at word press, suggest you pass on these notes as the copy paste function appears to not be working and suggest the word press company purchase all types of OS platforms. Suggest use them experience them before releasing any up dates to help the user.
6: I am not annoyed, so i hope this does not come across, just looking for answers, as you said you do not have an iPad. So you have no experience to build upon and their for no solution to give.
HQ word press please read the app great but if no copy paste function is working in the tablet arena, you probably will find many people saying oh and then they move away from a wonderful program. Many people do use tablets these days, many people do not use desk top computers for areas such as blogging.

Hello again, you’ll want to post this issue over at the iOS forum I pointed you to earlier as that is where you’ll get the most relevant response.
As a Moderator, I’m still a volunteer here, not a WordPressdotcom employee. But if they want to spring for an iPad, who am I to complain? ;)
Best wishes.

Hello Jennifer,
Just checking this is the link to go and look at ?
https://apps.wordpress.com/support/Yes I do agree with you Jennifer, you need all the toys to play with so you can experiment.
Then advise from personal experiences, just like in life, practical experience is by far the better way to advise. Thank you for being honest and direct. Regards Rob

The iOS forum is linked at the beginning of that general Support page, but here is the direct link: For iOS users, visit the WordPress for iOS Forums.
Again, good luck and best wishes

Thank you for the UrL Jennifer,
I have registered, logged in to the link you provided thank you, but it appears I am not able to make a post or able to email direct and make contact with HQ word press with some one re the above issue.
To be honest here on this site is where I thought the issue would be resolved, as you are a moderator can you please pass on my comments to HQ word press, so a solution can achieved for the tablet environment please ?
regards Rob -
Sorry you are having issues with the iOS forums. I’ve tagged this thread for Staff attention.

Many thanks Jennifer, yes the other forum you provided appears to have no direct contact.
My future ideas would be like this, currently I have web sites hosted on a server, i log in and upload with FTP any new pages images etc.
I am wishing to move all sites over to wordpress and change name servers and point them at the word press, so question really does wordpress offer this type of service ?
I would also like to do all of this through the word press app on the ipad is this possible do you know? This is just writing simple code DIV’s etc design my own sites not interested in templetes(Understand you do not have access to tablet)
I now understand wordpress.com is for everyone and wordpress.org is as they say “Get your hands dirty, and host your website yourself.” But then again on the wordpress.com they say “You can even upgrade to a custom domain, like YourGroovyDomain.com.”
So I am actually confused if any of the above is for me and if so which one ? URL here so you can see https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Also pricing if not clear, example if i go to a hosting company and look on line the pricing their host as many site unlimited hosting etc.
Is their a link to explain how much the costing is for hosting web sites at the moment 5 sites one with forum running PHP, can i make payment in one hit, as i have seen something about per month, i really just like to pay once a year.
Again thank you for your responses i am very grateful for your time and feed back.
Regards Rob

Hi Rob – How far we’ve come from a simple copy/paste issue in the iPad app-which we are still waiting for Staff assistance to resolve! “-)
You can learn more about moving from self-hosted ORG to WordPressdotcom in these support documents:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/coming-from-self-hosted/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/view-all/If you wish to use your domains here, you will need a separate plan for each WordPressdotcom site you register in order to use that domain via domain mapping. https://wordpress.com/pricing/
I regret that I must leave for now, but will check back in later today.

Hello Gemma,
That is very good thank you Gemma, as generally often or not the error is User error, now we know. Also select all or select when in word press app appears not to be supported
Hello Jennifer,
Thank you for the links above Jennifer, I go and have read and see if they meet the requirements I am looking for.

Idea for staff, Gemma,
The word press app, if the app could do the following please.
Write code (when on line or not) upload like an FTP to my domains sites hosted say on WordPress, this replace’s the need for the current work desk top pc/mac and programs.
But I like to do this on the iPad pro is this possible ?
Currently when I write any code inward press it jumps about is the best description I can give. I can video the screen and put a link here under unlisted if that would help, ? regards rob -
Hi Rob,
The word press app, if the app could do the following please.
Write code (when on line or not) upload like an FTP to my domains sites hosted say on WordPressIf your site is a self hosted WordPress.org site, you won’t be able to edit code using the app as it does not support FTP access. You would need to find another app to do this for you.
I’ll pass on your feedback about selecting all.
Thanks! :)
