iphone appearance

  • Unknown's avatar

My blog is not viewed in full screen on iphone4. It’s fine on desktop but not on iphone4. I downloaded wordpress app and tried to view my blog but the appearance is not on full screen. It was squeezed to the left and left blank on the right of the screen.

    Thank you for your support.

Could you please try disabling the mobile theme at https://silverlime2013.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=mobile-options and then visit your blog using the browser on your mobile device?

    Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you for your reply. I just tried it and it showed my theme on iphone but not full screen. Still squeezed theme to the left side of screen. Basically, I could view just 70% of screen on iphone4.

Your theme is responsive, which means that your blog is automatically resized according to the screen size of the mobile device you are using. The sidebar (which normally appears on the right hand side) is moved to the bottom.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

But there is blank area (background) on the right side of iphone. Can we adjust the body of the blog to full screen?

    Cheers,

It seems the long site title is causing this issue. I’ve just reported this to our theme developers to fix. I’ll contact you once I know more.

    Thank you!

I guess I have to purchase to make it live. I couldn’t customize the width in CCS box. :(

Thanks again for your kind support.

The issue has been resolved. If the title is long it breaks into a new line.

Note that you can control the appearance of your blog with a Custom Design upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

  • Unknown's avatar

It was full screen but after I changed title it was back to not-full-screen again. I don’t mind the title breaks into a new line. Eventhough the title is broken into a new line…still not full screen. Pls check again. Thx for your support.

Could you please make a screenshot and upload this to your media library or send it to us by e-mail.

    0. Navigate to the screen you want to capture

    To make a screenshot:
    1. Press and hold down Home button (round button center bottom)
    2. Press and release Sleep button (top right button of phone)
2a. You will hear a camera-like shutter sound
    2b. Release Home button
    3. Screenshot is in your ‘Photos’ app.

    Thank you!

Here are some examples, as it specifically relates to the “Comments” thread. This is viewed on an iPhone 4, ios 6, the mobile version (and not the app version).

Comments, “full” screen. Note how narrow the comments field is, with only 4-5 words on each line:

But the “full” screen isn’t really the full-screen, with a huge amount of wasted space to the right, viewable when you zoom-out:

The narrow comments field is made even worse when you go to reply to a comment. If you want to go back and read what you are replying to, while you are replying to it, you get this:

We’ve just tested it on a iPhone 4 (iOS6 and iOS7) and iPhone 5 (iOS7) and everything is working properly. The dashboard is responsive which means everything will be scaled according to the screen size of your mobile device. Alternatively you can use the WordPress for iOS app for a better WordPress experience on your mobile: http://ios.wordpress.org

  • Unknown's avatar

But it’s not scaling. See this image:

    http://craptastichouse.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=16

There is supposed to be an at-least-25% empty cell on the right side of the screen? This is a huge waste of space and crowds the comment into a difficult-to-read very narrow cell. The design before it changed yesterday was responsive, with the any admin page that you were looking at taking up the full-screen. This is not happening now, unless you are counting that empty right cell as being part of the page. If you scroll over on any page, that empty cell (that at the far-right contains the log-in/sign out button) takes up a huge amount of space. I guess I’m wondering what is the purpose of it? I mean, the dashboard can be responsive at 100% of the useable screen, not at just 75%. The design, before yesterday, took up 100% of the screen and was still dynamic, as it would “grow” based on if you were holding your device vertically or horizontally. At this width, full links do not even fit in the comment box, as do things like “Delete Permanently,” which now runs two lines:

    http://craptastichouse.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=17

That empty cell was not there before yesterday, and just seems like poor design. Responsive is good, but a giant empty cell which smushes content into lines that only contain a few words is not.

Did you perhaps zoom out when you were on that screen? If so, please try to zoom in (pinch) or double tap the screen. Let me know if this resolves the issue, both on the comment page and the link width.

    Thank you.

  • Unknown's avatar

I double tapped the page, it zoomed out (off the edge of screen). So I pinched to adjust the page size to fit on my phone screen. It’s not a big problem but it just doesn’t look good when you can see white area on the right of screen. (I sent email to support re screen shot earlier, did you get it?)

Thank you for your wonderful support.

@kevinkawa I see you created another thread, let’s continue our conversation there because your issue is slightly different than silverlime2013’s.

@silverlime2013 I’ll check your screenshot and reply as soon as possible.

My theme is ‘chalkboard’. It’s should be a mobile-friendly version. I checked both on Safari and WordPress app on my iPhone. They looked the same. (Just emailed support another email re screen. FYI)

  • Unknown's avatar

I was able to reproduce the issue now. I’ve just contacted a theme developer to take a closer look at it. I’ll keep you informed.

    Thank you for your patience!

  • Unknown's avatar

It’s resolved. I just checked it on the app. Thank you for your gr8 support!
