iPhone comments not posting from visitor

    I just heard from a friend that she posted two lengthy comments to two of my blog posts via her iPhone. But I didn’t receive notice to approve her two comments… they never reached me for moderation. I’ve gone back and checked all my settings to make sure comments are allowed and forwarded to me for approval. I’ve already received and approved nine other comments on my first-time blog over the last couple of weeks. Any ideas or suggestions on what I can do to troubleshoot and resolve this? Thanks!

    Go to your collected spam and search for her username or email. They might turn up in there, and it might have something to do with the iPhone, especially if she has an automated “Sent from my iPhone” signature.

    Thanks, raincoaster… I checked my spam folder, and it was empty… didn’t receive the two comments from my friend in the spam filter.

    I just did an experiment using my iPhone wondering if I could duplicate the error.

    Neither of these tests was done using the downloadable WordPress for iPhone app.

    Both tests were done visiting my blog as if I were a visitor with my iPhone and going directly to my blog to post two test comments.

    For test 1, I went to my blog, and my blog sensed that I was visiting from a mobile device and auto-loaded my blog in “Mobile Site” format. I posted a test comment, and this comment went to my Dashboard spam filter.

    Then for test 2, I went to the top of the bog and toggled to “Full Site” format (like seen in a PC browser) and posted a comment. This second test correctly went to my Dashboard moderating feature waiting for approval.

    Has anybody else experienced this where a visitor has or you have posted a comment from a mobile device using the “Mobile Site” view and the comment does not go to your “waiting approval” queue? Rather it disappears or goes to the Dashboard spam filter?

    Maybe Venus is in retrograde tonight? :)
