IPS Tag
-
I have paid to map an old site to my WP account but my current host can’t change the site and have asked for an IPS tag. Could you provide this to me please?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What is the domain?
An IPS tag is used for transferring .uk domain names, and we don’t accept incoming .uk domain transfers on WordPress.com. So even if I had an IPS tag to give you, it won’t help you in this case.
If your domain provider does not allow you to change your domain’s name servers or add custom A records to point the domain to us, then the only way you can use the domain with a WordPress.com site would be to transfer it to another domain provider that does allow you to make those types of changes.

Mapping is free with your plan.
Are they able to change the A records for you at least? They should be able to do that. Let us know. They can find the appropriate IP addresses with this command or version of it adapted for their system:
dig a westhoveclinic.co.uk @ns1.wordpress.com
Another alternative is to use westhoveclinic.com as your primary domain, and have them redirect westhoveclinic.co.uk to that.

I paid extra for Mapping prior to upgrading my plan. Could this be checked please?
I am happy to redirect the .co.uk address (that’s all I want to do, actually).

Good morning –
Do you want both westhoveclinic.com and westhoveclinic.co.uk to show the same site in the browser. That means that one will automatically forward to the other. In this case, we need to know which domain you want to show in the browser bar. The secondary one will just work behind the scenes automatically sending visitors to the primary one.
When visiting https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/ you’ll see everything that you’ve purchased with WordPress.com.
Domain mapped: westhoveclinic.co.uk
$13.00
2019-03-06WordPress.com Personal for http://westhoveclinic.wordpress.com that costs $28.00
2019-03-06Note that the personal plan was purchased at a discounted rate because you had already purchased the mapping.
I’m happy to help you get things sorted which ever way is desired. I am just not clear on what you want the final result to be. Thanks :)

westhoveclinic.co.uk is an old site and I’m happy to have that directed to the existing westhoveclinic.com site that you host and provide.
So. .com is the primary site and the .co.uk site is forwarding to it.
Thank you so very much.

Perfect. Now westhoveclinic.com is your primary domain. When I load that, it shows your site. On our end westhoveclinic.co.uk is mapped as well.
And noting as far as payment goes, we used to charge for domain mapping. Now that’s included with your personal plan. And as Liz pointed out, you got that at a discounted.
The only issue we’re having now, though, is that westhoveclinic.co.uk is not showing up yet even though it is mapped. Your domain provider still needs to make the changes we recommended. Any one of these three should work, so I’ll list them in order of preference:
1) Use our name servers:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.comor 2) Change the domain’s A records to the addresses found with this command:
dig a westhoveclinic.co.uk @ns1.wordpress.com(Noting if your registrar does not have unix-based systems, they’ll have another way to find the correct IPs.)
or 3) Use a 301 redirect from westhoveclinic.co.uk to westhoveclinic.com
Will you check in with them to see if they will use one of those options so your .co.uk domain will work?
