Is 20 minutes a normal time between new posting and follower emails received?

We have set up simple blogs to receive emails regarding school bus cancellations. In total we have 16 blogs, with a menu on each blog listing links to each of the other blogs. There are not graphics or pictures, just text. When I send an email to any of the blogs I receive the confirmation email back within a minute or 2 at most. I have also chose to follow the blogs to see how long it takes for my followers to receive their emails. It can take anywhere from seconds to 20 minutes for their emails to arrive. As you can imagine, people waiting to hear about school bus cancellations are quite anxious to get those messages in a timely manner. I am concerned about 20 minutes. Is this an expected time-frame? If not, how can improve that response?

    I would be using Twitter.

With regard to the timing I would not expect any blogging platform to guarantee a consistent 2 minute turn around time when it comes receiving emailed posts. That’s not the nature of the internet and I wasn’t joking when I posted above. Though Twitter can’t guarantee anything either I would not be doing what you are doing. I would set up a Twitter account and post directly to it, rather than using a blog.
