Is 500 MB enough?

  • Unknown's avatar

I would like to use a bbPress or BuddyPress plugin. I’ve been looking for free hosts to support those two. I’ve found free hosts that come with between 500 MB and 1000 MB. About how many average sized posts is 500 MB, if it is possible to tell? If I don’t like a host’s options for upgrading, after people register, can I switch to a different host without having to start over, and losing everyone’s threads and posts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

You’ve posted in the support forums for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. We’re not able to offer advice regarding hosting the open source WordPress software somewhere else, nor regarding specific plugins for that software.

For questions regarding the bbPress and BuddyPress plugins, it’s best to post in the forums for those plugins directly, where the people who make and use those plugins on a daily basis can help you.

For general help with the open source WordPress software, including general hosting questions/advice, you can ask the WordPress.org community over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Keep in mind that it’s not just post content that will take up space on your server. WordPress itself, i.e. the files that make up the software, and also every plugin you install also use up storage space, along with meta data in the database, site logs, etc.
