Is a site name (not the title) available if I delete it?

When I install a different theme it doesn’t quite look like the advertised theme. Therefore I am considering deleting the entire site and restart from scratch.

I understand I lose my posts, tags, categories (no export?) and other settings. I can sort of live with that because there is not much there so far.

My question is… after deleting it “permanently” can I re-create it using the same blog name or does it remain in the system as unavailable?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • No, when a site is deleted, its name is no longer available for use: https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/#permanently-deleting-your-site

What is the URL of the site with the problem and the theme you’re trying to use?

The problem is that it appears to use some of the stuff from the previous theme, like its background images. Anyway, my main question has been answered (thanks!), I will have to just go on with it.

  • Hi @lordofscripts I can see that you have several theme changes on panamavibes.wordpress.com. That is the site you are working on, yes?

To explain, when you switch a theme it is intended to work with your existing content. The demo content is not loaded automatically (doing so would delete the content that is already there)

Is it the case that you would like to delete your existing content, and load the demo content instead? We can do that for you, but I want to be sure since it will mean anything on the site now will be deleted. Do you need time to save anything to your computer before we proceed?
