Some weeks ago now I successfully imported my files from blogger to wordpress. The drafts were not imported so today I got up 3 hours early [gawd it almost killed me] and without so much as a cup of tea I got on blogger and copied all the drafts onto a file in my computer before the rush . Now I want to “renovate” my blog and that means moving some posts that are on pages back to being posts and visa versa, as well as, posting the drafts I removed some as posts, some as pages and some as drafts. I also intend to move a lot of images around. If I start doing this then the subscribers on RSS feeds will be getting a dog’s breakfast at their end. So is there some way to temporarily take one’s blog off line and renovate?

There isn’t no. Even on a hosted blog there would be a little rush of repeated items. I’d post a short apology post – it’s a one-off event and who knows, they may want to read the new (old) stuff :)

podz – what would be effect be of just taking the configuration info out of the RSS feed widgets, doing the reno and then putting the configuration info back into the RSS widgets again – would that be helpful?

If I get your feed now, you take the widget out, you do changes and redo the widget then any changes in the number of posts you publish I will see.
If you do not change the last 10 posts (by default) then I don’t think I’ll see anything. I think. -

I wouldn’t worry about it – really.
I often see people in my feeds republish the lot. I then wonder what they have been doing and wander along… -
found a nice “under construction” graphic on the web and well “took” it – wrote a nice blurb to go with – now to find the time to get the job done will be the challenge – cheers
