Is Akismet doing okay?

  Hi all,

  I know this could just be my luck, but I’ve had three spam comments come through today, and none of them have been caught by Akismet. They’re pretty similar – a list of gambling, sports-related. I’m surprised because each time one came through, I spammed it immediately, but maybe Akismet isn’t learning at its usual speed? Any thoughts, anyone?

  This happens from time to time. I’d say in about a year, Askimet has missed about a dozen spam comments, which I then got the pleasure of zapping. Twelve out of 7700 – not a bad average.

  BTW, if you set your comments to allow immediate publication only of those who have been previously approved, any spam that slips thorugh will go to your moderation queue.

  Spammers change their tactics regularly to try to get around Akismet. You might see a couple slip through before Akismet catches up, but it won’t take long.

  A lot of them have gotten through over the past four days. Hopefully things are going to be better if people remember to mark them as Spam.

  Askimet is very good at catching spam, in my case, it even grabs a few non-spam comments. lol However, in the last week, my spam box jumped from 180 to 243, but I only saw 5 comments in the spam box. Not sure what the rest may have been. T
