Is Blog Stats Available as a Plugin?
-
I have a WordPress.com blog and I have a blog that uses WordPress. I love the blog stats page in My Dashboard and wanted to install it on my other blog.
Is it available for download as a plugin on a non wordpress.com blog? If so, where can I get it from.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Not for a non-wp.com unfortunately. It’s a feature that has been built specifically for use here.
I use wp-shortstat and Google Analytics for my non .com blog and both work a treat.

Well, that’s a really question.
/goes to look…
Would you believe it’s v1.11. I know there are later versions but as not one person seems to actually take control of the plugin I got a little bit miffed and went and got Analytics as well.
The two provide different information, both work and both help with the stats.
For the record, I’m not a stat junkie, it’s just nice to look when I have a few minutes spare!

[Sheesh I thought we were all stat junkies – she whispered wearing a big grin *chuckle* ;D ]

I’m really not. I’ll look at the total visitors and page views but that’s pretty much it for me when it comes to the blogs.
Now, the routers are a different story. 31.4% average usage with a high spike of 91.22% at 8:41pm last night. :)

Quick mention that wp-shortstat got upgraded. I know we have a number of users here who use it for their off site blogs.
I can’t get the MySQL upgrade script to work but the plugin still works.

from where can i get this widget – blog stats? The widget I want (and hope you are talking of the same) is on http://manojranaweera.wordpress.com and I would like to have the same blog stat counter on http://www.manojranaweera.com. Can anyone help?
If this is not available, would you recommend another that gives a simple counter.

If I understand correctly, Google Analytics can be used as a plugin, but only on a privately hosted blog. Correct?
And, then that means that if I want my wordpress.com blog to have the Google Analytics I will have to move my blog to a private domain. What would happen to all the stats and organic search hits that I have built over the past year? Wouldn’t they be lost if I move the blog? Wouldn’t the links on search engines be broken?

Staff already uses Urchin/ Google Analytics on the blog sites themselves and Google doesn’t allow two of the Urchin scripts to run at the same time. I believe if you want to use google analytics yourself on your own blog then you need to go to http://wordpress.org and download a free blog from them.
Please read andy’s postings about domains carefully http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=4766&replies=68
I do know for sure that when you move your blog to a domain every link you had is broken and your blog ranking becomes zero. You start from scratch again.

Actually that’s incorrect. The domain status would have nothing to do with it. You would have to move the site off of WordPress.com’s servers all together.
The issue is on Google’s side. Even if wp.com allowed you to input your code here, Google wouldn’t. Their ToS prohibits the use of two codes within one site.
