Is dicot a multi-language theme?
-
Hi,
I would like to know if I can build two versions of a same website, one in English and one in French with the Dicot theme. I don’t use a premium upgrade, so can’t use a plug in. Is that still possible? I’m thinking a simple button with a flag that switches the whole website to English or French. If it is not possible with Dicot, could you please provide me with a list of themes that would allow me to do that?
Thanks!

You can try option 3 in the support guide that shows how
to set up a multi-lingual blog: https://en.support.wordpress.com/set-up-a-multilingual-blog/To add flag buttons, you need Custom Design upgrade. This upgrade can be purchased by itself if your account was created prior to 1 September 2014. For accounts created after this date, Premium bundle is needed even though you only need Custom CSS.

The theme translation for Dicot is live for French (France), as you can see here in GlotPress:
https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/themes/dicot
This means that phrases in the theme like “Read More” would appear in French if you select French (France) as your site’s language setting.
If you’re interested in the French (Canada) version, that variation is only 42% complete. Theme translations go live when they reach 85% complete, so if you wanted to use the French Canadian translation of Dicot, you could add more translations to bring it above that threshold and let me know when you’re done.
The guide to creating a multilingual site that chaitanyamsv pointed you to outlines several ways to handle multilingual content on WordPress.com.
