Is e-mail from (email visible only to moderators and staff) a legit request from WordPress.com?

  I started a new WordPress.com blog several weeks ago. Since then, I’ve received several e-mails from (email visible only to moderators and staff) asking me to confirm my WordPress e-mail address. The e-mails look really generic/homemade, with no WordPress logo and nothing to prove they are not from a spammer. Are these e-mails legit, and really from WordPress?

  Since it was redacted in my original post, the potentially suspicious email is coming from: sales (at) secureserver (dot) net.

  Hi @k9shrink,

  I believe the emails are from ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to verify your domain contact information. Do they resemble this?

  Register a New Domain

  If so, you will need to verify your address for your domain to continue working.

  Regarding the email being redacted, they’re still visible to staff members so no need to post the written out version!
