Is entrecard allowed?

  I came across a site called entrecard and was wondering if it was allowed on wordpress.com. I understand that ads aren’t allowed on wordpress.com, but does this site really count as an ad? The people don’t make money off of the site, but gain credits. Since they aren’t making money is is considered an ad?   I’ll defer to Mark for a final decision, but for now I’d say not allowed.

  The main reason we don’t permit ads and sponsored links isn’t that there’s money involved. It’s that it pollutes wpcom’s social network with irrelevant content and links, and encourages poor quality blogs that exist only to contain ads.

  I really hope this gets updated. It’s not making anyone money, but rather generating traffic. Isn’t that good for WordPress AND it’s users?

  Depends. WP.com is very anti-SEO, and alot of SEO techniques have the knack of making a site/network look incredibly cheezy. They’re conservative about it.
