Is hosting included with custom domain?

  Hello,

  If I purchase a custom domain for my site with WordPress, is the hosting automatically included?

  Related question, do I need to be on any of the paid plans to use custom domain, and/or hosting?

  Hello. The answer is yes.
  In your WordPress.com account you can choose a custom domain and the WordPress will host it for you.
  The answer to the other question is also yes. You need a paid plan to use a custom domain. Note that all WP plans gives you the domain for free for 1 year.

  Just a small clarification: hosting is free on WordPress.com. In fact, it looks like you’re already hosting three sites with us in this account. Hosting just refers to having your sites on a server that’s accessible online, so we started hosting your sites the moment you created them.

  What you pay for when you buy a WordPress.com plan, is the extra features included in the plan, like for example, the ability to use your own domain.

  If you cancel the plan or let it expire, you’ll lose those paid features, but we’ll continue providing hosting to you on the free plan.
