Is importing from multiple Tumblr blogs supported

    Hi,

    I’m trying to consolidate bits and pieces of my digital life, past and present, into one location, and I’d like this to be my wordpress blog (!)

    I used to have a Tumblr blog, and I was able to successfully import that using the Tumblr Importer: everything just worked, very happy experience.

    I then realized I also used to have a Tumblr blog under a different name earlier, and I thought “hey, let’s import that one too” … and this doesn’t work.

    For some reason, the Tumblr Importer keeps connecting to the first blog. I’ve tried:
    – Logging in and out of WordPress and Tumblr
    – Disconnecting and re-connecting the Tumblr Importer plugin
    – Using a firefox container to create an isolated environment and re-login to both WordPress and Tumblr from scratch, just in case some cookie-magic is involved.

    I also was able to export the Tumblr posts and download them in xml/zip form, but there isn’t a standard WordPress importer for that.

    So at this point I’m out of options. Is there a “trick” to get the Tumblr Importer to “forget” about the earlier Tumblr connection? Or is this some sort of persistent-for-all-time setting where once some Tumblr blog is used for importing, nothing else can ever be used?

    Any help or even clues/hints are greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

    To what site are you importing?

    You mention a Tumblr importer plugin, which would indicate you’re working on a stand-alone WordPress site at another host.

    WordPress.com sites have a Tumblr importer built in. It’s not a plugin on WordPress.com.

    If you’re speaking of a WordPress.com site, besides disconnecting the importer on your site, also log into your Tumblr account and disconnect it from WordPress.com on that end: https://www.tumblr.com/settings/apps

    Then restart the import.

    Hi Kokkieh,

    Thank you for that suggestion (about disconnecting WordPress within Tumblr for the first blog) … it’s exactly what was needed here! (I would recommend WordPress include this as part of their official documentation).

    Yes, I should have clarified earlier, I was using the built-in Tumblr importer.
