Is it better to change my user name
-
Dear Tech Support,
I’ve had the rynomotors.wordpress.com user for a while now and just built a new site under rynomotors2. I’d like my http://www.rynomotors.com URL which is pointing at rynomotors.wordpress.com to show my new site.
Is it better to rename rynomotors to say rynomotots3 temporarily and then rename rynomotors2 to rynomotors? Or is is it best to just edit my settings at my hosting service to point http://www.rynomotors.com at rynomotos2?
My fear is some old links with send people to the old site.
Thoughts on unknown issues around this?
Thanks,
Chris

To clear up some confusion, the rynomotors.wordpress.com and rynomotors2.wordpress.com blogs are both under the same username – rynomotors. The username of your account is ‘rynomotors’, and you can create multiple blogs rynomotors.wordpress.com. rynomotors2.wordpress.com) under that username.
The easiest thing for you to do is either:
- Purchase our domain mapping upgrade, so you can map rynomotors.com to your rynomotors2.wordpress.com blog
- Or you can change your settings at your hosting provider to point your domain name to the new blog you made (rynomotors2.wordpress.com)
The advantage of having the Domain Mapping upgrade is that your customers (and potential customers!) will see ‘rynomotors.com’ in their browser address bar instead of ‘rynomotors2.wordpress.com’.
