Is it better to create a second user account for another blog or have it on my existing account?
-
I have two blogs (1x photography & 1 x writing/poetry) & I have created a multiple-niche blog that I want (in time) to replace the other two blogs. As I want to keep the other blogs going for a little while (after I start the new one) am I better off creating a second user account under my main one or just having the new one under my existing account & change my Primary blog to the new one?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Better in what way?
Generally speaking, you can register any number of sites under the same username account. You can then manage all those sites when you are logged in with that account.
However, if your theme displays your username or nickname somewhere, the same username/nickname will be displayed on all sites registered under that account.
You can change your Primary site at any time in your Profile. https://wordpress.com/me/account
“Creating a second user account under my main one” isn’t possible. Each username account must have a unique email address associated with it.
If that didn’t answer your questions, please post back here.

Thanks for your comments, Justjennifer.
I must say I am getting a little confused as this is what I was advised by a Happiness Engineer:
HE: “So in that case what I recommend is actually creating the site under your main account
HE: but then creating a second user account, and “inviting” them to the site
HE: Then you just need to log in as them when you need to post
HE: And there is a way to assign them as the “author” of a post you write in your other account
ME: I think I did create it under existing account. Not sure I know what you mean about a second user account or how I would do that.
HE: Here are directions on how to invite another user to a site you already have on this account: https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
HE: If you use an email address that is different than (email visible only to moderators and staff) to send that invite out, in the email itself will be a link to create a new user account
HE: It’s the easiest way to kill two birds with one stone, as you will get a second user added to the site right away.
HE: You just need to be sure to keep your second set of login info (username, password) straight
I would like to keep the 2 blogs I have running 2 blogs I have running (at present), going for a little while longer (whilst I get this one up and running).
I have created the new site under my lightinspired account and was going to change my Primary title to communicatingcreatively (my new blog name) so that when I comment the new name would appear. The Happiness Engineer advised me I could also create a second user account under my main account & login through there to use communicating creatively…
The other thing I suppose I can do is set a brand new account under a different email but I have already created the site (but after spending time over the last 7 days putting it together etc all I want to do is get this blog up and running.
***I have also been told that I can import the content from my other 2 blogs to the new one but must use an ‘authorised import plug-in’ as my site is a .com site.
*Do you know of the names of ‘Authorised Import Plug-ins’ I could use please?
*After importing can I keep the other sites, but just have them unpublished?
*I don’t whether to just change my Primary site name under my lightinspired account, keep the lightinspired email address for the new blog or set up the second user account that the Happiness Engineer suggested with a different email???
As I mentioned I am confused…

I’ve decided to just change my Primary title to Communicating Creatively & not worry about setting up a second user account as the Happiness Engineer suggested.
Just need to work out now whether to change my username from lightinspired to communicatingcreatively.
The blog is now live and my only problem seems to be that my Social Media icon links are not working.
I have tried deleting them all and re-doing them but they still do not work…. Any thoughts?
I never had all these issues with my first two blogs. This replacement one has been a most-frustrating experience…

I’ll still address your original concern so that you have the full picture. I’m doing this before my morning coffee so will check twice before hitting the Submit button. Errors may still occur. :)
Yes, you can create a second username account but not under your main one. As I mentioned above
Each username account must have a unique email address associated with it.
Then you can do one of two things:
1. As the HE said, invite and add that second username account (which will have its own profile and nickname) to your site. Then when you are logged in to your main account you can choose who the Post you’ve written will be assigned to and published by in the Author Module. The Support doc the HE linked to is the one that explains how to add a second user to your main site. From other forum posts, it seems it is better to already have set up the second username account before inviting the second user and for the second user to be logged in to WPcom when accepting the email invite.
Or
2. Once you have the second username account set up, you can transfer the ownership of the site to the second username account. Once the second username account receives the transfer, your main account would no longer have access to the transferred site. You would then need to log in separately for each username/site.Both the above assume you do not want your original/main username/nickname to appear on the second site if the theme displays the username in the byline or author information.
If that is not a problem for you, then you can entirely ignore what I’ve just written.
More to come in a minute.

Just to clarify, if you purchase the Custom Domain Name with Mapping upgrades from WordPress.com, your site is still hosted on WordPress.com and you will not be able to install 3rd party plugins https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
In this case the only procedure is to export your content following these directions https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/ and then import it to your new site following these directions https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/ Both sites need to have their visibility settings as Public in order for the images to come over. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
If your new site has its own webhosting (with Dreamhost, Bluehost, etc.) and is using the standalone WP software, then you’ll need to inquire over at the WordPress ORG support forums about such import plugins. We won’t be able to help you here with that.
Maybe take a minute and read this Support doc which explains the differences between WordPress.com and the standalone WP software

After a successful import (including images) to your new site, you can then change the other sites’ Privacy settings to Private. This will keep out both site visitors and search engines.

At this point, please share with me the site address of the new site (site 3?) so that I can be certain I’m giving you correct information.
