Is it important to purchase another hosting space before cancelling premium plan

  • Unknown's avatar

    HI, I am unhappy with the premium plan and hence am thinking of cancelling and getting my refund. The question I have in mind is – Is it important that I purchase another hosting space before I cancel this wordpress.com plan? Or can I just cancel my premium plan and then later purchase another hosting space and transfer my domain there. Awaiting your response,

    Thank You

    @aaravindia

    You can cancel the WordPress.com Premium Plan and have it refunded, while still keeping your aaravindia.com custom domain.

    If you’d like me to go ahead and remove it, let me know, and I will be happy to oblige.

    Also, you can point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), with these steps:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

    You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

    Once you confirm how you’d like to proceed, I will get started processing your transaction.

    Okay, now I want you to go ahead and cancel my premium plan but keep my domain name aaravindia.com active with privacy protection. Just cancel the premium plan except the domain name. Let us know how much refund will I get back and in how many days. Please keep my domain active with privacy protection.

    Another quick question I have – I have registered email on zohomail.com and now since I will be cancelling and hosting with in.bluehost.com, how do I go about keeping my zohomail active and still receive emails on my email id?

    Awaiting your reply,

    @aaravindia

    I’ve removed and refunded your WordPress.com Premium Plan ($73). Please keep in mind that it takes 1-2 weeks for the transaction to show up on your financial statement.

    You don’t need to do anything different for your email to continue to work. Simply leave the DNS records you have in place.

    If you have any more questions regarding this transaction, let me know.

    Ok Thanks. The thing is something messed up and I am not receiving emails on my zohomail. Can u check the DNS settings for me if everything is right? Or let me know what the DNS settings should be and the MX records etc…

    @aaravindia

    Your DNS records at WordPress.com are no longer working because your domain’s name servers are no longer pointing towards WordPress.com:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=aaravindia.com

    If you don’t want to use your custom domain with a WordPress.com site, you will need to re-enter your Zoho Mail-related DNS records at your new hosting provider.

    Let us know if you have any more questions.
