Is it me or WordPress?
-
I am super confused. I have read all about how great wordpress is but since I started my blog two weeks ago I’ve had a lot of problems and cannot seem to fix them. I keep posting on this forum for help but I’m either doing something wrong or no one knows how to fix the problem cause no one responds. I’ve asked how to get help from staff and still no help. Is it always like this? I like everything else about wordpress so I am hoping it gets better.
The current problem is that I cannot see my Public Display Name in the Reader. I follow my blog to make sure it’s showing up properly and it’s not. I keep updating, refreshing, emptying cookies cache etc and still nothing. It won’t show up on any computer no matter what the provider, server or location. It DOES however show up on my mobile app which is so weird. Maybe I’m not doing something right and maybe it’s an easy fix but I have been working on this for weeks to no avail. Instead of it showing my Public Display Name, which is The Dowdy Shepherd, it simply says (No Title) and is unclickable.
Please let me know if you know how to fix this or how I can get ahold of staff or something .
Thank you so much! My head hurts overtime I sit down to try and fix this. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you checked the settings to be sure that you do not have it marked as a private blog?

Hey there! Thank you SO much for your response! It is marked public and I have checked that a couple times just to make sure. It’s the most mind boggeling thing…

Thank you, I decided after I commented that I would take the time to peruse and it is indeed public. One more thing that I can think to try. WP persons have been playing with things. There have been times, in the past when such playings were occurring that there was a wee lag in new things showing up. I have had to log entirely off of my entire computer and do a restart. I wonder if you have tried this? I can also say that helper persons (not sure if they are all staff or sometimes just a chosen volunteer) work or come on across all sorts of time zones and hours. Keep checking I have seen it being a rare thing to go for a week with no response in comments.

I am having no success in trying to post affiliate links in my blog. I have tried for 3 weeks. They are iframe links and WordPress doesn’t allow iframe links; but, there is some type of link that on WP that allows these to be added. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Can anyone help me, please? I may not have any hair left very soon.

I have tried restarting and also reupdating my system but it still won’t work. I keep clearing everything as well but still nothing. Thank you again and thanks for the info about how long it can take to hear back cause I was thinking maybe I was doing something wrong. The weirdest thing is that it shows up on my phone but not a single computer. I can’t wrap my head around that one…
Thanks again! Fingers crossed I get it fixed soon. Maybe it will be a Christmas miracle! Lol! -
Just passing.
It’s not just you. Other .com’s (as opposed to .wordpress.com) also lose there Public Display Name in the Reader.
The different Operating Systems used by phone and PC will account for the different effects.
Best of Luck

Thank you for you response! That might be it in which case how am I supposed to fix it? However it was showing up on my computer for about a week then not, then came back a couple days and has now been gone over a week. It won’t work on my Mac or any PC I’ve tried either. I can’t imagine such a simple problem would go unfixed for so long considering it’s a website and is viewed mostly on the computer. I don’t know though, stranger things have happened. But it seems to be only effecting me, not every other blog I follow so there has to be a fix…

Try entering the Tag “Cindy Barton” in your reader. That is another .com with the problem. I’ve seen others, but regret I can’t remember them.
The only thing I can suggest, is that get int touch with whoever provided the .com version.
Again, I don’t think it can be you, so no need to keep on troubling yourself. WP is producing changes recently, which might be why it comes and goes.
Best of Luck

@brendalgh since your question has nothing to do with the original topic here, please open your own discussion thread at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1
@mrskurz – [No Title] shows in the Reader because you have added a Custom Image header to your site and apparently deleted your Site Title in your site’s General Settings.
There should be a check box (Display Header Text) on the Add Custom Header page or the Customizer which when unchecked will allow you to suppress the Title from displaying on your image.
However you should not delete your Site Title. That text is what appears in all your search engine returns, and obviously the Reader.

Thank you everyone for your help!
Jennifer, you are the Queen! Thank you SO much! I just fixed it and it’s working now. Being new to WP I was thinking it was just an appearance thing, not of the importance that it is. I cannot thank you enough! Today marks two weeks of head aches and pulling my hair out! I’m so glad it was an easy fix with your instructions:)
Thank you again everyone! Happy holidays!
